Forest Forces: The Green Warfare, Part III, Down Under

Synopsis:  A rather surreal turn of events happens for our anti-heroine.  It results in a change of heart.  Her once recalcitrant, offish, aloof behavior transforms in the harsh, sometimes unforgiving outback.   They have to act fast if they want to return home to Oakenridge.  While they are away, however, the younger animals see it fit to start brawling over Twiggenthrone by lot.

Scene 1--Lost in a Strange Land
(An overhead view is shown of a plane making its roundtrip to Australia and touching down.   When the squirrels, mice, rats, chipmunks and moles come to, they don't know anything about where they are and are feeling rather shaken to their core.)
Persephone:   (narrating)  It was an alien landscape filled with even bizaarer creatures.   Scout had informed me that we had arrived by plane to a land called Australia.  We were miles from the forest and a massive distance away from home.   At first it was easy to feel intensely frustrated, lost, bewildered and adrift.   Until we met the locals and they gave us a tour of the wild, untamed land, we were all like newly born babes, bumbling and fumbling around.
Irwin:   (seeing the squirrels and crew wandering by completely mystified, raises an eyebrow)  Excuse me ?  You lot lost ?
Quarry:  (turning around and feeling a tremendous sense of relief) Yes !  We are.   Can you help us ?
Eunice:  We can all help you.  We'd be happy to lend you all a paw.
Struth:  By the sounds of it, we can tell you're all Yanks.   Not ta worry.   We'll get you all sorted out.
(They sing 'A Warm Aussie Welcome' as they give our heroines and heroes the grand tour of their gorgeous, untamed land.)
Bridget:   Do you happen to know where the airport is ?
Ularoo:   Too right we do.    Come on, we'll take you there in two shakes of a joey's tail !
(The kangaroos chuckle at Ularoo's wit.)
Melborne:   Come on, these Yanks got a plane to catch !

Scene 2--The Ticking Clock
Persephone:   Meanwhile back in Oakenridge, none of us had any semblence of what was going on back at home while Maladaisa and ourselves were navigating the mostly barren and arid terrain.    We were starting to become parched, but fortunately, the female kangaroos were prepared.   They kept canteens of water in their pouches and it was enough to slake our thirst, but we didn't know how long the bipeds were going to vacation in Oz.   We had a very limited timetable and inspite of the heat, we had to keep moving rapidly.
(The words 'Elsewhere, At Oakenridge')
Mine:  I can't believe that conniving, manipulating witch is finally gone.
Glenda:  (a bit too loudly and overexcitedly) PARTY !
(They begin to frolick around, overeating, overdrinking, throwing nuts all over the place for no real apparent reason.)
Nell:   (banging on the side of the Twiggenthrone, brings down one of its legs to its side to bang deafeningly)  Order in this throneroom, immediately !
(She has to do so a few more times to maintain ultimate quiet.  One of the mice sneezes and gets a hard look from the others.)
Meribah:   Partying may be all well and good while Queen Malcontent is away...
(They snicker at Meribah's puns but then stop.)
Meribah:  However, we need someone to enact diplomacy and rule.   We can't just laze about on our laurels and expect things to get done.   Spring isn't far away.   A bit of clean up would be nice.   Besides, everything's beginning to reek of dead leaves and various other kinds of debris.
Petunia:   Of course, this all makes perfect logical sense.   What do we do after clean up ?
Meribah:   (is stumped for a moment)  Well, Petunia, I haven't thought that out quite yet, but cleaning takes top priority.    So, everyone, chop chop !   All of us, work together, it'll get done more quickly !
(They start cleaning heartily and whistling as they do so, knowing that it'll probably take them a few days to have everything done before spring arrives.)
(The screen reads 'Back in Oz...')
(We see the squirrels, mice and rats progressing quite well until they meet a roadblock right about where they are to depart for the airport...)
Quarry:  (smelling the air)  I know what odors to look for once we cross, but it seems we can go no further.
Peresphone:  (narrating)   We never expected to be met by such a fierce armada of scoundrels before.   Despite my optimistic nature, I began to feel my resolve flag and my heart began to sink.
Agro:  Where do you think you lot are goin, ey ?
Struth:  Agro, don't be crude.   These kind folks want to pass.   They need to return home.   They don't belong here.
Bridget:  No offense, sirs and madams.  We do love your country, customs and culture...
Maladasia:   We really want to go home, though.
Fang:  Oh, boo hoo hoo.   What a real sob story.  Want me to break out my tiny violin ?
Fraser:  You're in our land.  You play by our rules, Yanks.
Victoria:   Fraser, be reasonable.   Kindly let our friends through.
Fraser:  (embittered)  Or what, Victoria ?  You'll engage in combat with us ?
Victoria:  I don't want it to come to that.   None of this needs to end in unneccessary bloodshed.
Maladasia:  (sadly to herself)  All my foolishness led us here.   Now we're about to die, and for what ?   Because I wanted more territory ?  Because I wanted to destroy Fury and her convocation completely.    Violence, as Victoria says is never the answer...
Perth:  Silence !   It's time for you all to prove just how tough you are.
Agnes:  (A bit aggrivated)  And hiking thousands of kilometers across arid terrain isn't evidence enough of our tenacity ?
Rupert:   Not whatsoever.   (roaring) Attack !
Persephone:  Our newfound friends held off our offenders, but not without maintaining heavy damage themselves.   They lost a few of their own, but their sacrifices would not go unacknowledged.
Scene 3--Following the Scent Home
Quarry:  (nose wiggling in the air)  Guys, I think I know where the carry on luggage is going to be stored.   Remember the way we came in.   Keep the zipper open slightly, but not too far or you might fall out during transit.
Timothy: (trying not to become overly giddy)  I can't believe we're heading back to Oakenridge !
Jonah:  (hugging him)  Almost too good to be true.   I'll never forget the adventure that we had here either.
Chi:  Or the food.   I'm going to miss that scrumptous food.
Jonah:  You would, Chi !  (lightly punches her in the arm, playfully)
Persephone:  (narrating) Quarry, our remarkable mole friend, had found our transport back home.   We loaded ourselves up and prepared for the long plane ride home.   Little did we know that Oakenridge  was in upheaval since my sister had left her throne behind.   The guards had given into their lust for power, and that only lead to corruption.

Scene 4--Oakenridge in Upheaval
(When the animals arrive home, they are deciding by lot who finally gets the Twiggenthrone but Maladaisa nearly has a canniption fit)
Maladasia:  What is the meaning of all this insanity ?   Do you have no curteousy or etiquitte ?   No respect at all !
Elisha:  Majesty, we were following orders...
Maldasia:  Like hell you were !   (smacks him hard against his cheek and casts him down from the throne, like a rag doll)
Kit:  Elisha, are you ok ?
Elisha:  (tears in his eyes, a bit hurt)  My pride and ego are a bit bruised.  Nothing that won't heal over time.   (Kit helps Elisha up and dusts him off.  He seems a bit chagrinned but none the worse for wear, just more afraid and intimidated of Maladasia.)
Persephone:  (reprovingSister, that was uncalled for.
Maladasia:   (taking the throne, apathetic, sarcastic)  I don't care.
Persephone:  (almost desperately) I thought since Australia, you had changed.   Are you still so hard-hearted that you can't let a child simply be that ?   A child ?
Maladasia:  (Fiercely, holding her sister by the scruff of the neck) If I don't rule with fierocity, then no one will take me seriously !   This is all I know.  If I can't get matters in order by force and oppression, then nothing else matters.  Remember, one weak link can break a chain, and like dominoes, we'll all fall down !
Persephone:  (sadly) Oh, Maladasia.  I really had the highest of hopes for you.   Seeing that the throne is yours, I shall let you get back to your royal duties, your Highness. (bows in propriety and in deference)  (narrating) It seemed that all my prayers were falling deafly in the wind, noiselessly as the snowflakes that were disapearring with the oncoming spring.   I wasn't about to give up hope.  I knew there resided a spark of goodness and kindness in my sister somewhere within her.   I just needed to evoke it someway.   I was about to go on a quest of my own for wisdom.
(The words 'To Be Continued' appear on the screen.)
