Kit's Transformation

Synopsis:  Taking not long after ‘The Rise of the Nine Tailed Dream Fox’, Kit and her friends take their summer vacation in Disneyworld.   Redbot is envious of Kit’s ability and asks Mick to incorporate them into himself.   He is granted the ability to shift into human form without any difficulty.   Kit instantly falls for his new look and the attraction between the two is mutual.   

Chapter 1--Summer Break

‘School’s out for summer !’, everyone sang along to the song over the PA.   

‘Yeah !   We have a whole 4 months to goof off and do whatever we want !’, Calvin exclaimed while he and his friends filed out of Summer Cove rapidly.  

‘I’ve got an idea !  I know we hang out quite a bit and see each other daily, but I was thinking we could go to Disney World this year.   We’ll all pitch in and make a vacation out of it.’, Sarah said.  

‘That sounds awesome.   We’ll start out with bake sales, yard sales, craft tents, whatever we can think of.’, Brody suggested.    With that, they departed for the day and went their separate ways and settled down for the evening.  

The next day, Haylee had organized a booth that featured cookies, brownies, many different varieties of fudge and her remarkable mint lemonade.   

‘Woah, you really went all out.’, Calvin complemented, giving Hayley on the cheek.   Before they knew it, the quintet was making more money than they could shake a stick at.   Kit showed up to help them, learning how to make change and interacting with others.   

‘This is actually quite fun.’, she stated, with a huge smile.    She had never done anything to help anyone else before.   As the crowd dispersed, Mick and Redbot showed up.   It was the first time Red had ever seen Kit, and he was instantly smitten.   

‘What’s going on ?’, Mick asked, inquisitively.

‘We’re selling baked goods and lemonade to fund our trip to Disney World.   We will have to have another sale but we’re so close to reaching our goal.’, Preston said.   Preston had even thought of having a magic show to raise money the next day.   Mick and Red had never been outside California so, it would be a bit of a drive.    Nevertheless, they wanted to come along as well.  

Kit nodded her head and transformed into a much more comfortable outfit.   Red was mightily impressed and whispered to Mick about giving him that sort of talent as well.  

‘It’ll take time but I can promise you’ll be able to shapeshift before we make our journey.’, Mick said, confidently.   Mick still knew a lot of spells and had access to all the ingredients to make Redbot’s dream a reality.   In time, and in private, Mick had created an elixir and gave it to Redbot.  

‘I know you haven’t had time to test this but I have a feeling it’s going to work.’, Redbot said, taking down the contents of the sparkling champagne-esque liquid down in one full gulp. The elixir had worked.  He could change forms easily and couldn’t wait to show Kit how he looked as a human being.   Of course, it would have to wait until the 8 of them left from Summer Cove to Florida.    Luckily, he would fit in perfectly with them now and wouldn’t even have to blend in.   It would be a grand experience for him to understand just what it was like to live the life of a human being and experience the phenomenon known as ‘fun’, he mused.  

Chapter 2--Packing Up, Shipping Out

Once the octet had all of their supplies together, including snacks and a music mix to listen to while on their lengthy drive to Florida, all eyes were on Redbot.  

‘What happened to you ?’, Brody asked, completely flummoxed and astonished.   For a few moments, none of the buddies could even peep.   

‘I asked Mick to lend me the same ability Kit has.  I can now enjoy everything a human can.  Isn’t that incredible ?’, Red said, noticing that Kit’s eyes hadn’t left his.   

‘You look magnificent.’, Kit commented.   For the first time, Red, in his newly wrought human form, turned a dark red and bowed his head bashfully.   

As the group laughed and sang their hearts out down the road, Kit realized just how much fun it was just being with friends and seeing the countryside.    She took photographs for every occasion, but with her eidetic memory, she didn’t really know what she had brought her camera for.   

‘Here’s my cousin’s place.  They don’t mind us staying the night here before we continue our journey tomorrow.’, Sarah mentioned.   Her cousin, Sue, was warm, friendly, loving, giving and an incredible cook.   She ate healthy foods but her cuisine was simply divine.   She and Sarah did some catching up after their dinner while the rest of the pals told scary ghost stories in the den, eating freshly made s’mores from the microwave.    Kit won the night telling the spookiest story of them all.

‘I don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep now.’, Redbot said with a bit of a shiver.  

‘It’s only a story.   Sewing kits have no will of their own !’, Kit laughed, heartily.   Boldly, she took Red’s hand and stroked it.

‘If you get scared, I’m right here.  I won’t let anything happen to you.’, she said.  Red felt that usually, he was to be the one that was strong and resolute, stoic, no matter what the situation was.  He had to admit though, being close to the woman he loved immediately dissolved whatever trepidation he had felt before.   Neither of them had known love before but having discovered what it truly meant, neither one of them wanted to let it go.  

Chapter 3--Florida, Here We Come !  

After a well-deserved night of sleep and getting a chance to stretch their legs a bit, Brody and the rest of the bunch loaded up the car and made a beeline to Disneyworld.   Being the middle of the day, activity was pretty dense in the park.   Instead of riding amusements straight away, each of the friends suggested a character they wanted to meet.   Of course, Redbot wanted to meet Baymax.    Sarah was old school with her requests; mostly 90’s cartoon heroes, heroines and villains.   Hayley stuck to even older characters, but they all had their favorites.  

With their autograph books in hand, they strove to fill them with signatures by the end of the day.    What the Ninja Steel Rangers did not realize is that their distant predecessors were also in Disney World on a much-needed vacay.

Billy was positively gushing about Splash Mountain.  

‘Can we ride that monster again ?’, he asked, brimming with excitement.  

‘And to think before we even got on this ride, you were begging us to get you off it.’, Rocky laughed.   Billy had been frightened, but with his friends screaming as much as he had, the thrill had been worth it.  

‘I think we should check out other rides before we come back to this one.’, Tommy mused aloud.   They had plenty of time to check the whole park out but currently, their stomachs were aching to be filled with a hearty meal.   

‘These hot dogs are stupendous, Bulky.’, Skull sighed.   His son, Spike seemed to be in heaven, especially that the Bimbettes had surrounded him.  

‘I can’t help it, pop.   They followed me here, and I can’t seem to shake ‘em.’, Spike boasted.    He told the Bimbettes he had a girlfriend back at home.  Sulking, they left, coyly, to greet other guests.  

‘So, about this girlfriend.  Is it Rosalee ?’, Skull inquired, astutely.   Rosa had been a friend Spike knew since grade school and the two had always had a crush on each other.   

‘How did you know ?’, Spike nearly yelled, surprised at his father’s intuition.   

‘Good goin’ for you, Spike !  Rosa’s a real peach.’, Bulkmeier complimented.   If Spike wasn’t embarrassed, he was mortified by now.   Fortunately, their three way conversation could only be shared by the trio themselves.    

Across the way, Hayley recognized Aisha.  

‘Hey, I know who that is !’, she said starting to become rather fangirlish.   

‘The former yellow ranger !’, Calvin stated, completely in awe.  The octet knew exactly who these legendary characters were.   Even Bulk, Skull and Spike were intrigued at the exchange that was beginning.  

‘I can’t believe it is actually you !’, Sarah said, completely floored at seeing Kimberly in the flesh.   They had only read stories and Brody had only heard of the Rangers due to tales that had been passed along orally during their capture.   

‘Care if we join you ?’, Rocky asked.   

Brody lit up, almost as if his smile couldn’t be contained by his face.  

‘Would we ever ?!’, he said.    It was a large group, but none of them minded.   They even took a photo for posterity and added their autographs to their books as souvenirs.   

Chapter 4--At The Beach

Red had never swam before and he was a little frightened of getting into the water.  

‘Now to see if that enchantment keeps me warm and dry.’, he thought.   Kit caught sight of him and beckoned him to follow her.  

‘If you have trouble, just follow my lead.  I’ll help you !’, she said, sweetly.    At first, he only knew how to dog paddle but being a quick study and mimicking Kit’s moves, he was better than Mark Spitz.    She had to laugh at how rapidly he learned.  

‘You are really amazing.’, she complimented.    

‘No.   You are.’, he said, sweetly, swimming alongside her.    With their goggles, underwater, they could view all sorts of tropical fish.   Still the most glorious vision, in Red’s eyes, was that of Kit.   Wanting to show her affection, he bought her a shaved ice.  

‘I don’t think either one of us have ever had one.’, he said, his cheeks still pink being so close to her.   Sweetly, she kissed his cheek and thanked him while she bought one in return for his kindness.    They both ate too quickly and received terribly painful brain freezes, but being shifters, the pain was only momentary and they laughed it off.   

The Ninja Steel rangers and the original crew played a game of volleyball together.   It was a close match and it ended up being tied.  

‘Best two out of three ?’, Adam offered.  The sun had since started sinking in the sky.  

‘Maybe tomorrow.’, Preston answered.    Everyone shook hands and departed, heading back to their own motels.    

Outside, Red and Kit watched the stars.  

‘I have never had this much fun before.’, he said, resting his head atop her chest and listening to the rise and fall of her breath.    

‘Nor have I.’, Kit said, running her fingers through Red’s hair.    Red looked up into her eyes and found his lips approaching her’s.    Not really knowing what to do, their lips met and they fell into their first kiss, almost dissolving into each other.   

‘I felt a jolt of electricity just then.’, Red said, touching his lip after receiving a static shock.  It had been extremely incredible though.   

‘This activity, kissing, I can see why other people get so worked up about it.’, Kit said, laughing.   She gave him one more smooch goodnight and wished him sweet dreams.   With that lingering smacker he nearly floated to bed, drifting into the best reverie he had experienced for years.   

Chapter 5--More Fun To Be Had

The night went by, the sun rising in the sky.  Rocky and his pals went to meet and greet more characters in the park while they headed toward the newly renovated Pirates of the Caribbean ride.   

‘Look, it’s Ariel !’, Pasitea rejoiced.   She had been a fan of the movie since she was little, and her mother, Somnibot had gotten her interested in faery tales of a similar calibre.   True, it wasn’t nearly like Hans Christen Andersen’s version, but she preferred the happier ending that Walt had written for his audiences.    Somni decided to show off her talent to the young princess and her prince.  Both of them started to nod off and found themselves fast asleep.

‘Wake up, sis !  Wake up mom !’, Morpheus said, lightly jostling them back to reality.   Ariel laughed.   

‘That’s the first time anyone has ever put me to sleep.’, she giggled.  The whole group shot a selfie with them and moved on from Ariel, Eric, Sebastian and Flounder to Peter Pan, Wendy and the Lost Boys.

‘These guys are my favorites !’, Adam admitted.   Everyone really seemed to be unleashing their inner child when it came to the character meet and greets.   

‘Looks like the line for Pirates has waned quite a bit.  I’m headin’ over that way.  Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me !’, Spike said, running ahead of them.

‘Wait, lemme catch up !’, Skull called after his son, keeping the pace with them.  

The rest of the afternoon was spent learning of nature, technology and Walt himself.   They even got to see the acclaimed parade of lights.   It was every bit as magical as they thought it would be.   The evening ended on a high note with the group celebrating with ice cream.

‘We still have to see who’d beat whom on the beach.’, Tommy reminded.   

‘Fine.   This time, though, we’re not going easy on you, predecessors or not !’, Redbot vowed.   It was quite humorous to hear Red trash talk since he was getting used to the mechanics of human speech but he had merged so well into human society that no one even realized he was an AI manipulating magical ability.    

Chapter 6--The Rematch

The final day of their vacation had the posse on the beach again, ready to have a bit of friendly competition.  

‘We meet again.’, Calvin said, sounding much like John Wayne.   Aisha, who was drinking some water at the time, spurted it out with a rollicking guffaw.   

‘Come to test your mettle again, pardner ?’, she asked, drawling much in the same fashion.  

‘It is high noon, isn’t it ?   What providence.   Here’s where we face off, mano y mano, toe to toe, nose to nose.’, Preston countered.    With that, Red and Kit began the match to end all matches and watched, completely rapt, as the predecessors dealt out victory after victory against their young rivals.   

‘Man, they’re really wiping the floor with us.’, Brody said, catching his breath.   He took his towel and dried the sweat from his fevered brow.    It was impressive though.   The Power Rangers hadn’t lost a single step since the last time they had battled evil.   They were far more impressive than the Ninja Steel crew had given them credit.  

‘Jeez, I’m beat.  I think this calls for pizza for all of us.’, Rocky suggested.   Each person had their favorite.   Red had never had pizza before, but Kit had and she enjoyed feeding Red little nibbles here and there.   Honestly, he had never tasted anything so savory or robust.  He could make out each spice and seasoning.    

‘It was terrific playing against you.  I hope we can meet again someday.’, Aisha said, hugging her new best friends.   

‘It’s going to be hard leaving Florida behind but school’s going to be back in session before you know it.’, Sarah said, with a hint of morose in her tone.   It was a bittersweet farewell, but the gang had promised they would keep in touch with their ‘elders’.  

‘Be safe.   Pleasant travels !’, Kim yelled, seeing the octet off.    They all had suntans and memories to last them all a lifetime.   It was a summer that none of them would soon forget.  

Epilogue

Kit, strangely enough, was eager to return to Summer Cove with her confidantes.   She and Red were becoming closer to each other and she wondered about the human ritual called marriage.   To others, the two would look as if they were getting wed far too early but the two were far other than most humans would ever guess.   Before going to sleep that night, Kit made a  wish on a falling star for the first time.   Graduation would be her time of confession.   

Meanwhile…

Galvanix grimaced and groaned.   

‘I don’t know where that blasted Yume went to.’, he complained noisily.  

‘Who cares about her ?   We need a better monster to fight those blasted Rangers.’, another monster lamented.

‘You forget that I can use the gold shuriken.’, Madame Odious cackled.  

‘Oh, you are absolutely right.   All we need to do is infiltrate their ranks, sew seeds of discord amongst them and pick them off at the pass.   This...School is in session, and you’re a new substitute.   How does that sound ?’, Galvanix offered.

‘With Odious our ratings are going to be astronomical !’, Cosmo rejoiced.   They had been itching for a good fight to keep Galactic Warrior the most watched UFC competition in the cosmos.   

‘Just you wait, Rangers.   I’m about to teach you a lesson you won’t soon forget.’, Odius said, taking upon the form of a very voluptuous teacher named Mrs. Opal Dias.   

Later...

The Rangers all received a special video message from the characters they met. Peter and Wendy were amazed at the robots in particular. They wanted the Rangers to come back and go on rides with them.
