Wedding at the Playhouse

Synopsis: Continuing from "Pajama Party at the House of Mouse", Herman Norman "Pee-Wee Herman" Ruebens and his beloved, Yvonne Chambers, are finally getting married.

L is for the way you look at me, O is for the only one I see, V is very, very, extraordinary. You’re the one that I adore, no one could ever want you more.’--Lyrics from L-O-V-E as sung by the often imitated but never duplicated Nat King Cole
“A life without love isn’t worth living. What’s life without love ? It’s a tree that bears no fruit. It’s sleeping without dreaming. At times, it’s the inability to sleep. It’s living one day after another waiting for the sun to shine into a room that’s completely painted black, where you know the key is but have no desire top open the door and go out.”--Karla, Hippie, Paulo Cohelo

Chapter 1—The Most Romantic Wedding of All

It was Yvonne Chambers, soon to be Ruebens, favorite day of the year. Ever since she had been a little girl, she had always wanted to be married on Valentine’s Day. There were some naysayers that were posting hateful comments on her blog about this choice, but she ignored what they were gossiping about. Those people were simply jealous and wanting nothing more than to make someone else miserable. Yvonne was far too happy to let snide remarks and rude replies to ruin the most important day of her life.
Yvonne’s bridesmaids were busy applying her makeup and straightening her veil.
‘You look spellbinding !’, Magic Screen said, in immense appreciation and astonishment. All of the ladies were bustling and complimenting her on how gorgeous she looked. She was the very image of a Southern Belle.
‘I wonder how snazzy Herman will look.’, Delta said, with an elbow to Yvonne’s rib. She laughed and blushed, knowing that someday soon she was hoping they could have a child or children of their own. They would be happy if they only had one, ten fingers, toes and all, given that it was perfectly healthy.
Mendelssohn's Wedding March played. Yvonne could feel her knees knocking although she seemed calm, cool, and utterly smooth like a ballerina as she traipsed down the aisle. Her palms were lightly sweating and without anyone noticing, she wiped them off on the lace of her dress.
‘This is it, Yvonne. This is your big moment. Time to shine !’, she mused as she continued to walk toward Herman. Herman was absolutely dashing. He wore his traditional grey suit, decked out with a maroon bow-tie. The theme for the wedding had the chapel bedecked in Valentine’s Day hearts and adorable cupids hanging from the ceiling as well as metallic curly-cues in pink, red, gold, silver and white.

Chapter 2—Quite the Guest List
There were quite a few special guests that were in attendance. Dixie Rhodeson, Herman's friend (who was a Puppetland yellow cab driver) wore her finest blue satin dress and decorative hairpins. Seating next to her was her boyfriend Frank. Also in attendance were Foxton and Roxanne Vulpus, otherwise known as Warner Brothers' very own Foxy and Roxy. Their old cartoon shorts were revealed in two episodes of Pee-Wee's Playhouse; Herman's favorite was Smile, Darn Ya, Smile, and it was edited (with Foxy's permission of course) into what he described as the Reuben’s Cut, so that the song whose title was shared with the cartoon wouldn't play for copyright reasons.
Roxanne, Foxton's wife, was seated next to her husband. She was pregnant.

How far are you along ?’, Minnie asked curiously. She was discreetly breastfeeding her babies with a device that helped keep them all suckled and quiet. Thanks to Billy, her mothering could be a bit easier. ‘I’m only in my second trimester, but a lot of people can hardly tell. The doctor says I’m having quadruplets.’, Roxy said with a massive grin. Foxy was just as proud and Michael beamed.
‘Congratulations, buddy. I can’t think of a better dad than you. I’m sure you both will be marvelous parents.’, he complimented.
In came the flower girls, which were mostly bots and younger ‘toons from all sorts of bygone animations that no longer saw the light of day. It was refreshing to see them out and about, even in color as they would have preferred.
The ring bearer came in, followed by an entourage of other little boys in tuxedos. By far, it was the most adorable thing any of the guests had seen. At long last, the preacher commenced the ceremony and the two exchanged hand-written vows. There weren’t many dry eyes in the chapel that blessed day.

Chapter 3—Party !
After Yvonne and Herman shared their first kiss together as a married couple, he hoisted her into his arms and carried her down the aisle into their ‘getaway’ limo. The limo then shuttled them to the Playhouse, where the music was pumping and the atmosphere was euphoric.
‘I’ve never seen them happier !’, Delta commented.
‘I’m just glad Herman finally took the hint. It seemed like it took him forever to finally get hitched !’, Asimo agreed. Everyone began to chat, eat, drink and be merry. There were plenty of games with superb party favors. Some people even walked away with prizes, and they were certainly not expecting to come away from a reception getting that lucky.
It was finally time for Herman to make his wedding speech. It was far less nerve-wracking than the actual ceremony itself, because this time he didn’t have to look at cue cards to know what he wanted to say. He waxed poetic about how he had known Yvonne as a childhood friend and this unconditional friendship grew into something deeper and more meaningful as he grew up. When he became older, he realized he couldn’t live without her, and besides, there would be no Playhouse or Puppetland had she not been consistently lending a hand (quite literally) for so many years.

Chapter 4—Bon Voyage
It was now time for the guests to make their way out of the Playhouse and back to their daily lives. However, there were two special guests who wanted to let Herman know just how appreciated he was.
‘Thank you, Herm. Without you, we would’ve been forgotten. Oswald almost had the same fate occur with him.’, Foxton commented, with a hint of a tear at the edge of his eye. He was exuberantly hugging the new groom and bride close together.
‘So, quadruplets, huh ? Quite a handful !’, Yvonne said.
‘We know what their names will be, too ! There are 2 girls and 2 boys. The girls will be named Riley and Rose. The boys, Ferdinand and Frank.’, Roxy stated, with a hint of hubris.
‘Perfect names. They suit them so well !’, Herman retorted. Herman was starting to get a lascivious look to him and Yvonne knew that gaze all too well. The two of them would be jet setting to gorgeous Hawaii where they would be partaking in a massive luau, accompanied by fire dancers and hulu dancers.

Chapter 5—Island Paradise
Hawaii was everything they had dreamt it would be and more. Every day, Yvonne and Herman would awake to a continental breakfast and the finest smoothies money could buy. They savored walking on the beach, parasailing, flying over active volcanoes, shell collecting, surfing, and myriads of other activities that kept them occupied. By the end of the evening, Herman looked at Yvonne longingly and begged her to consummate their marriage.
‘This is new to me, Herman.’, she said, a bit nervous.
‘It’s ok. We’ll learn together.’, Herman responded, lovingly as he removed her flamingo pink bikini from her svelte body and began kissing her. The two’s kissing became more and more heated until they found each other in their hotel bed together, half naked, nearly devouring each other whole.
Between the sheets, they wrestled, moaned and sighed in ecstasy as they made love into the wee hours of the morning. Finally so tired they could plotz, they were completely taken over by sleep and rhapsodic dreams.

Epilogue

Just as soon as the vacation had began, it seemed to have been over in a blink of an eyelash. They came home, a little jet lagged, but Yvonne had another idea. She wasn’t tired of enjoying alone time with Herman. In fact, they had made love a few times now and it hadn’t gotten boring. When they returned home, they even made love in the Picture Phone of all places, with a metal chamber sealing them in for privacy (complete with a small glass window with a red tint for sensuousness) and the ringing of the device serving as a way to excite them into more sex. Before long, Yvonne discovered she was pregnant. Herman was tickled salmon at this news.
‘What are we having, Vonny ?’, he said, affectionately.
‘We’re having a little girl. I was thinking of naming her Paprika Talia.’, Yvonne said, patting her expectant belly.
‘Can I feel ?’, Herman questioned. Placing her hand atop his, the two parents-in-waiting felt their little girl squirming around and kicking. Herman felt some tears creep into his eyes but quickly wiped them away. It would be an interesting road the two of them would take together and it would affect them being Warriors with the Rangers, but maybe, perhaps, someday, Paprika would become a Ranger herself. The possibilities were endless.
