Scene 1--After A Long Mall Crawl

Sylvia:  I love the weekend, don't you, Wendy ?

Wendy:  No doubt.   After all that work, it's a relief to get away.

Sylvia:  Thankfully we hit the mall during a sale.

Wendy:  Without you I wouldn't even know where to begin.  You find the best deals, Syl.

Sylvia:  Now you're just exaggerating.  You saw my reciept.

Wendy:  Yeah, well...it was better than how I faired !

(The two of them chuckle a bit)

Sylvia:  It almost makes me loathe the fact that after tomorrow, it'll be back to the grind for us again.

Wendy:  At least we have jobs, Sylvia.

Sylvia:  Touche, Wendy.  Hard enough to get them let alone keep them.

Wendy:   What are you thinking about, Syl ?

Sylvia:  I was just pondering about what life would be like as a man.
You know, how they think.   I just can't seem to figure them out.

Wendy:  Here we go again.   You're just jealous of me because I'm happily married and seem to have my life all together.  Let me tell you, being married isn't all lollipops and rainbows.  It takes compromise.

Sylvia: I know, Wendy.  I just...can't help thinking about getting back into the dating realm.   I fear I might've lost my edge.

Wendy:  Don't say that.   You've got a lot to offer.

Sylvia:  I wonder if men have to go through this.  I bet it's so much easier for them in the game of love.

Wendy:  (raised brow)  Seriously ?

Sylvia:  Without question.   (sees a shooting star)  Ah, look, a meteorite !

Wendy:  I bet I already know what your wish was.

Sylvia:  I still have mysteries untapped deep within me, my dear.  Only God above truly understands them.

Wendy:  (chuckling)  Right, of course.  Where to now ?

Sylvia:  Home, of course.  I'll drop you off at your place.   By the way, when is Erela due ?

Wendy:  It's getting pretty close actually.  A few more weeks.  To be honest, I feel like I'm about ready to pop, and I know she's coming.
I've heard the second birth is typically easier.   I won't know if that is true until the time comes.

Sylvia:  If she's as handsome as Samuel is, best be prepared to have them beating off admirers with 2X4s.

Wendy:  (chortling)   Oh, shoot.   Syl, you're a riot.  I had a blast with you today.

Sylvia:   Affirmative.   As did I.   I wish these mall crawls would last longer.   (yawning) Time for me to hit the sack.   (hugging Wendy)
Goodnight chica.

Wendy:  Duermes bien.   (smiles sweetly)

(Sylvia goes to sleep and hugs her pillow close as she cries herself to sleep.  Paul Anka's version of 'Everybody Hurts' plays in the background as the scene fades.)

Scene 2--Man Alive

('Sylvia' awakens, not noticing any differences and a jazz version of 'A Man's World' plays in the background.  She yawns, stretches and begins her day as she normally would.  That is, until she notices herself in the mirror.)

Raymond:  (Screams in terror and then frantically paws the mirror for a moment, and then pinches himself)  OW !   Apparently, this isn't a dream.   (exhales slowly, taking everything in)  I never should've made that wish.   (looking back at himself)  But, hang on...I'm really not that bad looking.   In fact, I'd say I'm quite the stud.   Wonder what my new identity is.   Better do some searching to 'adjust' to the role.   (winks at himself)  I'll be seeing this sexy self later.

(Going to work as a successful CEO of a rather large company.  There are some women admiring him from their desks.  He recieves a text from one of them.)

(On screen:  Hey, Ray.  You busy ?)

Raymond:  No way...I'm getting flirted with at work.   This never happened to me when I was female.   (typing back) No.  Why do you ask ?

(On screen:  Wanted to know if you were free later.)

Raymond:  (to himself)  Enter intriegue.   (typing)  Sure.  What do you have in mind ?

(On screen:  That quaint cafe down the street.  I've never been but I have heard their deli is one of the best in town.)

Raymond:  (typing)  It's set then.  When do you want me to pick you up, Calilily ?

(On screen:  Silly, you know my real name is Elise !  6:00 will be fine.  I've been waiting for this as long as I can remember !  I'll wear my best dress for you.)

Raymond:  (typing)  Something to look forward to.  (to himself)  This is so unusual.   I've never felt quite this confident before.  I don't even know this Elise, yet, here I am asking her out on a date.  I get the sense that I've known Elise for a while, but this is her first time asking me out properly.   Being a guy might not be so bad.

(Scene fade)

Raymond: (listening to 'Eyes Without a Face' in his car while he waits for Elise.  He sees her approach the door and she races toward his car.  Ray exits his car without thinking and opens the door for her)   (thinking to himself)  Hmm.  That's unusual.   It's like I know all the right actions to take and they come instinctually.   Fascinating.

Elise:  Can you believe it ?  Our first real date !   We've been chatting online for months now.   (holds his hand)

Raymond:  (musing)  The feeling I have now is completely different to what I experienced as a woman.   It's like an unbelievable rush.
(squeezes his hand back)   We've got no time to lose then.  We'll make it to Sequoia before the dinner rush.

Elise:  (patting his hand in anticipation)

Raymond:  (narrating)  I could tell I had more confidence and more game as a man than I did as my former self.  I wasn't afraid of anything.  I even accepted the new feelings I was having.  All I could think of now was keeping Elise happy and letting her know I was falling for her.   Yet, there was a slight part of me that was afraid of telling her the truth.

Elise:  These sandwiches are amazing, aren't they ?

Raymond:   Remarkable so, my dear.

Elise:  You seem to be rather pensive, though.  What's on your mind ?

Raymond: (to himself)  I can't believe I am actually doing this.
(deep breath)  Elise, I think I am in love with you.

Elise:  (chuckling)  Raymond, you tell me that all the time.  But, hearing it directly from you is all I could ever want and more.
I certainly hope to hear it again and again in further dates with you.  Oh !  Which reminds me, there'll be a cookout this weekend at the beach that's hosted by your buddy Angelo.

Raymond: I'll definitely be there.   Angelo's quite the griller.
(light chortle in his mind)  Psst, I don't even know Angelo.  I assume he's the male version of Wendy in this alternate plane.  Or wherever the heck I may be.

Elise:  Then, I'll be seeing you there, Ray.  (leans forward to kiss him)

Ray:  (drinking in the kiss)  (narrating)  It was hard to keep certain things supressed at this moment.   I wanted to grasp her tight and steal her breath from her.  I wanted to make love in the worst possible way but I knew it wasn't the right moment.  I settled myself down and kept my heartrate as low as possible.

(We see Ray driving Elise home later in the evening and kissing her goodnight before saying goodbye.  'Suddenly You're In Love' in instrumental, jazz genre plays.)

(Scene fade)

Scene 3--Summer Lovin'

Raymond: (awakening, yawning, stretching, winking at himself in the mirror)  Morning, you handsome devil you !   This is the life !   I can't believe I didn't make this wish earlier.   Everything I could've ever wanted is at my fingertips, and all I have to do is do a few calculations, smile suavely and give my approval to the cause of the company.   (searching through clothing)  Let me see, swimtrunks.  (singing)  Well we're going to surf city gonna have some fun, we're goin' to surf city where it's two to one.   BAM !    Lookin' hot  !
Dang...whatever I put on looks good.   Maybe it was the same back in the other probability.  Who cares though ?   (laughing)  I'm assuredly loving every moment of this.

(Scene shift, Raymond arriving at the beach and some Hawaiian music in the background.   Ray sees Elise dancing to the music and smiles genially at her.)

Angelo:  Ray !   You made it !  Right on time !

Ray:  I never miss a party.  You know that.

Angelo:  Predictable as ever.

Ray: Hey, would you mind playing a song for me ?

Angelo:  Sure.  What do you have in mind ?

Ray: (whispers)

Angelo:  Ah, an oldie but a goodie.   (puts 'Do You Wanna Dance ?' on after the last Hawaiian song has played)

Ray:  (walking over to Elise and offering his hand)  Come on !  Let's dance.

Elise:  (beaming)  Why not ?

(The two enjoy dancing together, but two other ladies are admiring him from afar)

Carolina:  I saw him first, Taelia.  You didn't.

Taelia:  I don't care if you did, Carolina.   I am going after him first.

Carolina:  (exhales sharply)  We're handling this like a couple of spoiled toddlers.   I have an idea.

Taelia:  (dramatically)  Duel to the death !

Carolina:  (tries not to burst out in hysterics)  No...God, Tilly.  No.
You are really twisted.   We're the best of friends anyway.
I was thinking we would go about this diplomatically.

Taelia:  A coin toss ?

Carolina:  You read my mind, my friend.

Taelia:   Ok.  Heads I have my chance with Raymond first.   If the coin lands on tails, then you can have a go.

Carolina:  (deviously, mischeviously) Oh, goodie.

Taelia: (flipping the coin, and it lands on tails)  Looks like your the goddess fate has chosen.   Guess I will have to try my luck later.
I'll stay out of your way.  Promise.

Carolina:  You're the best, Tilly.

Taelia: (hugging her)  Now, go get 'im before that other girl shows up again.

Carolina:  (walking up to Raymond, buttering him up with flirtation)
Hey.

Ray:  Hello.   Fantastic day, isn't it ?

Carolina:  What say you and I head to that shack over there for a little bit of fun ?

Ray:  (firmly and a bit reproving)  I don't know who you are, lady, but I only have one woman on my mind.   See that cute little ginger over there ?

Carolina:   (nodding)   Blondes have more fun though... (leans in closer, close enough to kiss him)   Come on.  She'll be waiting in that bathroom line for a while.

Ray:   I don't care if she'll be waiting there forever.   I love her.

Carolina:  (Forcefully takes him in her arms and kisses him passionately on the lips)  There's more where that came from, if you know what I mean.

Ray:  Stop it.  You're only embarassing yourself.   Look, I don't know who you are and I am not interested in having sex with you, even if you are hot.   (shouting)  I love Elise !

Carolina: (vehemently under her breath)  Killjoy.

Ray: (walking away)  What was with that crazy gal ?  (shaking head left and right)

Elise:  (coming back from the bathroom)  Did you wait for me long ?

Ray:  No.  Not at all.   I'm happy you're back.

Elise:  (snickers lightly) You make it sound like I was away forever.

Ray:  Oh, please.  I'm not that dramatic.  (raised brow) Am I ?

Elise:  You can be fairly serious at times.   But I like that about you.
You're learned, astute, sharply dressed and a joy to be around.
This summer so far by your side is turning out to be extraordinary.

Ray:  I agree.  (loops his arm around hers)  You know what would really hit the spot right now ?

Elise:  What's that ?

Ray:  Shaved ice.   It's hotter than a boiler room out here.

Elise:  I couldn't agree more to that.

Ray:  Maybe we should call it a day ?

Elise:  (nodding)   Affirmative.

(Ray buys Elise and himself a shaved ice and starts to head back to his home.  When he returns he recieves a call.)

Ray:  Hello ?   Who is this ?

Carolina:  You know who it is.   I've followed you home.  I am not about to let you go.   I've brought along company with me this time.

Taelia:  (foxily)  Hello, handsome.  I didn't want to fight her over you, so I thought, two of us would be sufficient in holding you down.

Ray:  I don't know who you are or where you are but I am calling the police.

Taelia:  Oh, we're shaking in our sheer lingere !

Ray: (getting his cell phone and calling the police, but before the police can come to the front door, the girls have him tackled)
Leave me alone !   I already refused you.   I don't want to harm either one of you.

Carolina:  Oh, how sweet.  A gentleman.

Ray:  Don't make me have to hit either one of you.  I will if I must.

Taelia:  (tying his hands behind his back, tightly)  Too late for that, beautiful.

Ray:  God, no...don't.  Please don't do this.

(Luckily the police arrive and arrest the women before anything else happens.   Ray is shocked and unable to speak.  He weeps, hard and is nearly inconsolable until Elise rushes to his house after she is given a breakdown of the situation.)

Elise:  They were Carolina Morrow and Taelia Eugenovich.   You won't have to worry about them any longer.  Claude's made certain the two of them are fired pending next week.   I had no idea those two were so twisted.  Look at your wrists...they're bruised.   (kisses them)

Ray:  (rests his head upon her lap)  Can I stay like this for a while ?

Elise:  Of course you can.

Ray:  Elise ?

Elise:  What is it ?

Ray:  (in a near whisper)  I love you.   Thank you for not finding any of my emoting...weird.

Elise:  Why would I ?   I'm just happy to be near you and that you are safe.   Just rest a while.

Ray:  (closes his eyes and settles peacefully into her lap)

(An instrumental version of 'You'll Be In My Heart' plays in the background, scene fade.)

Scene 4--Reality

Sylvia:  (waking up, looking down the front end of her body, raises eyebrow quizzically.  She seems puzzled.)   Huh.  (rushes to the mirror.)   Hmm.    How unusual.   Everything in place.  No penis.
(amused)  Huh !   I surmise it was all just a dream.   (exhales in relief)  Thank goodness.   I wouldn't trade my life for that of Raymond's any day.  (walks back to look at her calendar)  Oh, shoot!  Today's my parent's wedding anniversary...

(calling them)  Mom, dad !  Where are you ?   Please forgive me for being slightly late.  I seem to have overslept...

Valarie:  (answering)  Hello, my sweet.   No worries.  You've been overly burdened with keeping up your production.

Thomas:  We're at Vittorio's.  You know the place.   I've got a special surprise for my sweet Valarie.

Valarie:  (faye laugh)  After all these years you're still taking my breath away.

Sylvia:  I'll be right there !

(She rushes to the restaurant and Thomas is singing 'Everything I Do' for her, and Valarie is tearfully kissing him in return)

Valarie:  Tom, that's so beautiful !

Sylvia:  Dad you're such the romantic.

Thomas:  Why wouldn't I be, squirt ?   I didn't even know what love was until I met your mother.

Sylvia:  I'm glad I could make it.   I bought you each a locket for this occasion.

Thomas:  Such a thoughtful daughter.

Valarie:  It's marvelous.   Thank you so much.  (she leans over to kiss her daughter)

Sylvia: (while she's sipping on her iced tea her cell rings and she nearly spits her tea out.  She chokes a little but maintains her composure)  Forgive me.  I forgot to turn this wretched thing off.

Thomas:  Don't worry about it Syl.   Take it.

(Valarie nods in encouragement.)

Syl:  Yes ?

(Split screen)

Wendy:  Syl, my water just broke !

Syl:  No !  Get out !

Wendy:  Erela's in a hurry to make her debut...

Syl:  I'll be there as soon as I can.  (hangs up the phone)  Mom, dad, I'm really sorry but Wendy's going into labor.

Thomas:  Right now ?

Valarie:  We can come with you  !

Syl:  But it's your anniversary.

Thomas:  (hand on her shoulder)  This is a very important day.  I think we should all be together to support your friend.

Valarie:  Agreed.

(They all hurry to the hospital.  'We Are Young' plays in the background as Erela is brought forth to the light.   Everyone is in a state of celebration.)

Syl: (narrating)  Even though it was a dream, I learned immensely from that situation.   I knew that I was happy with myself, with who I was becoming and the person I would soon be.   The business was successful and would continue being so.   I learned that I would become the godmother of little Erela and was tickled pink at the possibility.  I had always wanted to be a mother and now I was getting my chance to baby sit her when Wendy was too busy.  She and Samuel would be in my care when she and James were away.   One thing I will never forget as long as I live was James' expression when he recieved tiny, precious Erela will reside in the fabric of my heart forever.   All around me, moments unfurl that make me happy to be alive, even the prospect of love.   My fellow coworker, Jack, he has only started giving me knowing looks and a quick grin, but I know he likes me.   We've only started dating and I couldn't be happier.   Maybe the dream was showing me that Elise was actually Jack ?   (shrug)  Who knows the inner workings of the Universe ?
I certainly don't.  I just allow the mechanics to squeak me about as part of the 'bigger picture' and enjoy the ride.

(We see Jack and Syl dancing at a club together to a swing version of 'The Eye of the Tiger' before credits begin rolling.   Blooper reel added for 'true fans' after all involved recieve kudos where they are due.)
