Chapter 1—The Intergalactic Race to Turn a Profit

There wasn’t one extraterrestrial being who wasn’t aware of what the Stellaria meant for them as well as the entire universe.    The remarkable being, who was referred to as ‘the coloratura of peace’ in many circles, was highly revered and believed to usher in harmony wherever it went singing, shining, sparkling, and glittering.    Of course, there were a few unscrupulous individuals who could think of nothing else but trapping the poor innocent being and using it as an exhibition to make zillions of dollars.    The Council was already aware of the entities that would stop at nothing to purloin the Stellaria and knew it would need a crew to protect it from harm, so it contacted the GFP (Galactic Foundation of Planets) as well as the SCP, Twilight Merdianers and the CEO of the Crusaders to act as humankind’s envoy.

Chapter 2—To Boldly Protect the Innocent

The newest director of the SCP, Milicent Monroe looked at Mariah and chuckled a bit.   ‘I don’t know why they decided to have us serve as ambassadors’, she said, slightly shaken at being at the helm of an intergalactic cruiser the like which would rival anything in modern day sci-fi storytelling, yet sleek and nimble enough to outmaneuver any dread pirate coming after the Stellaria.

None of them had ever been on a mission this important.   Chakra could hear the ethereal luminescent cryptid singing long before any of them had seen it on their viewscreen.   Lucy nearly bawled out of happiness.   Like Chakra, she had heard stories of the Stellaria since she had been just a mothling, but she had never once believed it was true.  She always thought it was a fairy tale that her kind told the next generation because it was so compelling and moving.    Yet, seeing it in reality was simply inexplicable and magnificent.

In a matter of picoseconds, the cruiser they were flying, Illumination, was surrounded by pirates from all multiverses.    To say that Illumination was outnumbered was a bit of an overstatement, especially in this cosmic quandary.

Chapter 3—Compassion

The last thing any of the crewmembers aboard Illumination wanted to do was to start an intergalactic war that others would inherit due to allowing the Stellaria to be captured.

‘You really don’t want to cage this incredible creature, do you ?’, Millet asked, using his power of persuasion.   Chakra joined her thought with his, and Lucy joined suit.   Millicent and Mariah only parroted the request.    Cha sent forth calming thoughts and Xch doubled them with positive vibrations and a general sense of well-being and placidity.

The pirates couldn’t help but gape in wonder as the Stellaria sang, speeding by in a rainbow of acceleration.    Even if they wanted to capture the entity, they felt compelled to simply allow her the freedom to soar and sing wherever she wanted.

Chapter 4—Let Love Fly

Just like that, every formidable foe, every enemy, and nemesis observed the Stellaria harmonizing and flying to the next galaxy.     It was an envious life.   It had no one to answer to, no bills to pay or mouths to feed.   All she did was love unconditionally, never knowing she was an example to all who viewed her.

‘I’ll be darned.  I think that thought experiment worked, Chakra !’, Mariah said.

‘Belief only made it stronger.   Thoughts can be powerful weapons if there are enough thinking them in tandem.’, Millicent stated wisely.    It hadn’t been the first incident where they had allowed a cryptid to roam freely, but it was obvious the effect that the Stellaria had would last at least for a while.     Humans, being what they were, would live how they wished, but the peace that the Stellaria had brought would be upheld by a faction of the ESPers who had felt it and wanted it prolonged.

Chapter 5—A Little Amnesia

The other ships had turned and warped out of view but not before the director of the Galactic Council pulled the oldest men in black trick that had ever been used, a flash that induced amnesia.    This short pulse would affect everyone who had seen it, including themselves.    This is why after it had occurred, anything that had happened aboard the Illumination would be considered a passing fancy and nothing more.

Chapter 6—The Ties that Bind

School had been in full swing for the members of the Cryptid Crusaders.   None of them could recall if they had been in space but for those who had been aboard the Illumination, they had remembered they had been off Earth.

‘I know I’m from another dimension, but it seems I was sharing a dream with you.  Is that even possible ?’, Millet questioned Cha.   Cha blushed.   She and Millet had been dating officially for a while and knew this was a sign of their love.    At some point he and she would be bound together as spouses and it was confirmation that their love was indubitably, meant to be.

‘Anything’s possible, my gentle galaxy.’, Cha said, lovingly as she turned the color of the Honeycrisp she had been consuming.    Though it had been odd that all of them remembered a starship called the Illumination and some of them recalled monitoring it from headquarters below to oversee safety.    Whatever that reverie had entailed was nothing more than that, a reverie.

Epilogue

Mariah was dumbfounded.   She had written an entry on the Stellaria but beyond that everything seemed like a faded memory.

‘I’m having a hard time putting all of this together.’, she said to her secretary.   She hadn’t been the only one in the office in this unusual condition.    The SCP had forgotten completely about the ‘mission’ if there had been one and everything resumed its usual cadence as if nothing had happened.   Mariah considered this the new normal and went back to helping individuals with other sightings and encounters.   She knew it had happened but sadly couldn’t prove anything.   The only  evidence was the entry she had compiled.   Oddly, this gave her a sense of completion, and she knew that there were some incidents that simply couldn’t be explained.    The work would continue as it always had and always will so long as the Crusaders were around.   That was how it was and how it would continue to remain.
