Dominique La Trek and Anne Bonny's Treasure
A/N: It’s been a
hot minute since I’ve written anything about my own anti-hero, Dominique. I never really had a solid origin for her
until now, which she so richly deserves.

Chapter 1—Dominique
La Trek, Renaissance Woman
It was a particularly sunny
Sunday when Dominique was born. Her
mother gave her away to the Romani camp nearby, who subsequently raised her and
taught her everything she knew. She had
the gift of gab and an enchanting personality.
She could grift and haggle with the best of them, never backing down
until she grabbed the best deals. She
learned swordsmanship from the Gypsy King, Dioval La Trek, who was the head of
her camp and the only father she knew.
Her mother died young heading home that Sunday by failing to look both
ways when she crossed the street.
Sadly, she was struck by a delivery truck and labeled as a ‘Jane Doe’. No one knew her real name or where she came
from, but it is possible that she was French, since Dominique understands the
language intrinsically. She can speak
it fluently as well as Spanish, smatterings of Greek, Hebrew, and
Japanese. She knows German, but not
enough to consider herself ‘dangerous’ with it.
She prefers to be polite in the languages she speaks, using diplomacy to
win almost anyone over. She has an
uncanny poise, balance, and hypnotism in her words as well as her dancing. Her moves can be deadly if she desires them
to be.
Having
grown up among thieves, Dom scrimped and scraped to make certain her fellow Mincéirs
lived well. She had unbelievable
knowledge and was invaluable in just about any job she put herself to work
in. She was drawn to thievery after
watching, reading, and mirroring the exploits of Arsene Lupin and his associates,
wondering if she would ever meet them.
‘If I’m
going to be elite like that fox of a man is, I have to do something they’ll all
notice. Likely I’ll maybe get killed in
the process but I’m sure it’ll be worthwhile.’, she thought after calculating
where Anne Bonny’s treasure was and where to retrieve it. She would be going for the incalculable windfall
herself if it existed.
Chapter 2—Club Twenty-Seven
Finding
Anne Bonny’s treasure was not as difficult as Dominique thought, but she had no
idea that Interpol was about to chase her down.
No one else had cared to go searching for it, let alone looting it
successfully. With her successful side
hustles, LaTrek had her own speedboat and was escaping until Zenigata accidentally
knocked her out and into the ocean where the high-speed pursuit was taking
place. Fortunately, Lupin and his troop
had seen it. Daisuke leapt into action
and dove after her, Goemon cut most of the opposing boats in twain and Zenigata
was left with his officers on an overloaded dingy to retrieve whatever dignity
and respect they had as they retreated.
Dominique
saw herself swimming towards a lovely shimmering light.
‘I’m
only twenty-seven. I suppose I have had
a good life. I’m soon to join the likes
of James Dean, Kurt Cobain, Hendrix, Joplin, and others…’, she thought. She lived by the principal of the Golden Rule
and had never killed anyone unless she or her family was threatened. She could be deadly with her katana but
preferred enchanting with her wisdom or angelic voice through song.
Chapter 3—Gunman With a Heart of Gold
By the
time Dominique awoke, she was in the care of Lupin and his associates. She had coughed up vials of seawater and was offered
a glass of water by none other than Fujiko Mine. She perked up immediately, fangirling and
squealing in her presence.
‘I can’t
believe it’s actually you ! I dreamt of
this day many times in the past but now it’s actually a reality.’, she said,
hugging Fuji close. Fuji pointed to
Daisuke who had been carefully watching her like a hawk. Goemon had opted to be her security, but
Jigen never left her side.
‘He
actually brought you back, gypsy.’, Fuji said.
‘I’m Dominique LaTrek. I’m a thief, exactly like you.’,
Dominique said, proudly. She thanked
Jigen for giving her CPR and blushed at the thought of having been brought to
life by a kiss, much like in a fairy tale.
‘I did
what anyone would do. You were drowning.’,
Daisuke said, frankly. Fuji playfully
patted Dominique’s backside and winked at her.
‘I’ll leave you two alone.’, she stated, walking out of the room. Daisuke sat on the chair next to her and she
took his hand into her’s. She was
surprised how tender they were, having murdered so many people. It wasn’t as if they deserved it. Jigen had always used his firearm in
self-defense.
‘Daisuke,
I want to thank you for saving me.’, Dominique said, melodically. Hearing his name from her mouth made his
heartrate spike. He never thought he
could feel for another person that deeply, but Dominique was a stone-cold
fox. Everything about her, he adored,
especially her intellect.
‘Think
nothing of it. You shouldn’t get too
close to me though, Dom. There’s a tendency
for those who do that danger is involved.’, he warned. She got out of bed and sat down on his lap,
looking directly into his eyes. Daisuke
gulped. Dominique was rather forward,
but she had never wanted anyone as badly as her rescuer.
‘Let
the danger come, then. I welcome it.’,
she said. She trailed kisses along his
chin and moaned softly.
‘I hope
I’m not moving too fast or coming on too strong, but the moment I saw you, I
wanted you.’, she said, as the two gazed in each other’s eyes for a
moment. Jigen had a crooked smile. Of all the women he had known and loved,
Dominique was the one for him, and he knew it. Getting drunk on her perfume, he nibbled
her neck and kissed it with abandon. That
evening the two lovers got to know each other intimately and became intwined in
each other’s lives.
Chapter 4—Part of the Gang
At first,
Dominique was a little concerned that maybe she would’ve been one member too
many of Arsene’s gang, but she proved to be extremely useful on heists. She was very flexible, so she could fit into
many places Lupin couldn’t. Her sword
skills were just as incredible and impeccable as Goemon’s, but by her nature
she was a pacifist until under duress.
One
starlit night sitting atop Lupin’s Fiat, she propped her head against Daisuke’s
shoulder and squeezed his hand lovingly.
‘I hope
I’m never too much of a distraction.’, she said, thoughtfully. Daisuke looked at her and chuckled.
‘I always
hit my target. You, however, hit me,
through and through like a bullseye, darlin.’, he said, romantically, leaning
into her to lock lips under a splendid full moon.
‘Which
makes me think. Are ya ever gonna tie
the knot with Fuji ?’, Dominique asked.
Lupin, who was casually savoring some freshly poured champagne nearly
choked. After patting his chest to swallow the bubbly lager, he composed
himself.
‘The
same could be asked of you and Jigen.’, he retorted, mischievously.
‘It’s
only a piece of paper. We’re not looking
for extra attention…’, Dominique said.
Daisuke dipped her dramatically over the Fiat to kiss her again. She burst into raucous laughter.
‘If you
take us to Vegas maybe we’ll consider it, but we’ll go under aliases. Less attention that way, my diamond.’,
Daisuke said with a flirtatious wink.
That wink always made Dominique blush and seeing her cheeks fluoresce
made him chortle.
‘Let’s plan
then. I’d like to see you two happily
wed. Someday the same will happen for
me, but I can’t think of a better activity than getting you two legally bound.’,
Lupin stated. Goemon nodded, flashing a
rare smile at his second equal in swordsmanship.
Epilogue
Under
the radar, Dominique and Daisuke had a small but ravishing wedding. She kept her name, which Daisuke didn’t mind,
but the two wondered about bringing little thieves into the world and how much
work that would take.
‘Arsene’s
family did it somehow. I guess we
figure that out as it comes.’, Dominique said, wisely. There was no telling if and when children
would occur. Arsene wasn’t supportive
of the idea outright, but he figured should kids come into their troop, they
would become wise to the way of stealing and look after each other. Besides, being called ‘Uncle’ actually didn’t
have that bad of a ring to it.
