Life's Biggest Dreams

Synopsis: The Rangers and their friends must work together to retrieve the Spark of Life.

Chapter 1--’This Find is Worthless !’

A young archaeologist, Jenn Piedmont, had been studying her whole life to unearth priceless artifacts.   Everything had been going well until her latest dig. She found something extremely unusual. It wasn’t an overtly ornate object.  It was a silver trinket that glimmered in the light and had an unusual aura about it.
‘This wasn’t what I was hoping for.   This find is worthless !’, she griped.   She had spent most of the day hacking and digging at the site only to find the almost miniscule piece of silver.   Aggravated, she threw it to the side and stormed off, thinking that the entire day was a loss. She soon found another site and began digging, unearthing the amporas she had been seeking.
‘Now to make pay dirt !’, she thought.    All the while, a ghastly hand emerged from underground, breaking through the loam, sod and grass, clawing to pull itself up from the depths of Hades.

Chapter 2--Dekker Reborn

Then broke forth another hand from the ground.   After that a whole body, resembling that of a samurai of old.
‘Ah, alive again.   Now to locate my nemesis again.’, Dekker said, bound and determined to make certain that fighting his enemies would result in his victory.   The Spark of Life which had reanimated him had become part of his kabuto, or helmet, an insignia that had given him a literal new lease on life.   The Spark itself could resurrect anything it touched, but once it had contact with something, it merged with it as an ornament.

Chapter 3--Let the Weirdness Begin

At Ranger HQ and the Hall of Justice, both alarms went off at the same time.   Simultaneously, they called each other, curious about the ruckus that was occuring.
‘I sense an awful disturbance.  The pendulum has shifted.’ , Diana said, rather grimly.
‘That doesn’t matter.   We’re together. We can retrieve it and return it to its rightful place.’, Zatanna smiled, assuaging them.   Starfire nodded. Katana had her sword at the ready, seeing the fearsome warrior looking for the Rangers.
‘It’ll be good to go into battle again, won’t it ?’, she said, speaking to her husband’s spirit, inexorably tied to her samurai sword.

All the while, Dekker traced the vibration of the warrior spirit until he encountered it.
Out of nowhere, Snyde appeared but the Rangers fully trusted him, knowing he had been an ally many times before.   Even though he was a typical ‘anti hero’ he was on the side of right and had come to retrieve the Spark.
‘Time to make things right.  I let this slip out of my gloved hands once before and now look at where it has ended.’, he said, with great remorse.
‘We’re here to help.   You know where it belongs.’, Enchantress said, with a smile upon her face.
‘That I do.   It’ll be returned to a location where it can no longer do any harm.’, Snyde stated.    All the while Dekker stared down the Red Rangers. Each Red Ranger had been hunted down by Dekker since time immemorial.
‘I can take you both on.’, he vowed, beginning to take a warrior’s stance.   The Justice League stood by, knowing that this samurai was no ordinary one.

Chapter 3--One Samurai Army

Dekker was no laughing matter.   No matter who he faced, he mowed down without even breaking a sweat.   Snyde stood by, magical flask in hand, ready to seal the Spark, but it didn’t seem that Dekker was going to be defeated easily.
‘This guy is insanely skilled !’, Jason said, fighting back as hard as he could.  It came to the point where he was staring down the edge of Dekker’s sword, about to have his life literally cut short.     Katana stepped in and fought as well but she was simply no match for him. With a wave of his hand, he caused a violent wind to assist him, knocking Katana on her backside.
‘Windbag !’, she growled, flipping back up on her feet.
‘Wait.  This is a war for all of us.   He can’t be beaten one on one.’, Enchantress finally deduced.   Dekker’s face, though unmoving, suggested that he had a sardonic smirk of victory plastered all over it.   He felt he had already secured his place in history for defeating the Rangers when all he had done was beat them into submission.    However, they were proving to be more formidable, resilient and stubborn. It would take more than a few good punches, kicks and foot sweeps to put them entirely out of commission.

Chapter 4--United We Stand

'We gotta stop him !', Herman said. 'If he uses the Spark to destroy the Earth, we're done for !'    As one unit, they charged him, Snyde preparing the flask to catch the Spark once it flew out of Dekker’s body.
Each of the heroes and heroines were knocked across the park, tearing up the grass, rolling through the fields, making it look like gophers and moles had a literal field day or went a little nutty.
‘Ow.’, Jibo moaned.
‘We can’t give up.’, Nao said, helping Jibo back up to his unicycular wheel.

One punch after another, the group finally broke through but the true battle was between the Red Rangers and Dekker.    Katana savored all of this and took a turn, wielding her steel against him.
‘How I have longed for a battle this fierce !  I have lived a full life ! If I died now I would be fulfilled !’, she crowed.   Dekker smirked.
‘Likewise, lady samurai.’, he said, giving her a compliment.   The two were equally matched. She could sense where his vulnerability was and quicker than a viper, made her fatal strike.
‘At last...peace.’, Dekker said, knowing he would be joining his wife soon.    Katana sheathed her sword into its holster, regaining her composure. She and the others had broken a slight sweat but the battle was over, at least for the moment.

Chapter 5--Safe Keeping

In a blink, Snyde caught the Spark and tightened the lid so it could never escape.   With a wave of his hand it was transported to a safe location that only he and the Dino Charge Rangers would know of.    Knowing he couldn’t say much or interact with the past Rangers if at all, he snapped his finger and was gone. He hoped that there would be a kiss waiting for him back home from Kendall.   Kendall already knew that Snyde had a fancy for her and for years he had been going out of his way simply to court her. Today was finally the day he’d ask her out on a date, and he was certain Kendall would finally be in agreement with him.

The Rangers recuperate and congratulated each other.
‘It was excellent to see Snyde again.   To think he’d actually be on our side is very reassuring.’, Alpha admitted.   Certainly he had gone back to his own universe and timeline but something told him that the Dino Charge Rangers would be helping them in the near future, and there would be more of them uniting as one battalion.

Epilogue

YES! We ROASTED HIM !', Herman said. He high-fived Reba, Yvonne and the others.
“We won’t be seeing Dekker any time again soon.  That was the last of him.”, Billy said.
“At least the Spark is in a realm where it can be guarded, kept far away from malintentions.”, SICO quipped.    They all agreed. Somni felt this called for a trip to one of the gang’s favorite places. Seeing that Conky and she were the biggest savers of the group, they had gathered enough money to head to Universal Studios for a while before the day’s end.
After a thrilling day at the park, everyone yawned, stretched and went to bed.  Whatever tomorrow brought, they would be more than prepared for it.
