Fun Like a Theme Park

Synopsis: Thousands of humans from many different Earths are transported to Mobius, believing it to be some sort of theme park.

Chapter 1—Unexpected Visitations

With summer just around the bend for many Mobians that meant festivals were in full swing almost all year long.   Although school was out for the year, there were plenty of opportunities to gain experience, explore and engage one’s curiosity.   There were many points of interest that often-allowed students to earn advanced or additional credit if it fit with their curriculum.

Sonic and his family were on their way to Mopekli Tepi by way of the Starlight Express.   No scholar, architect, historian, or engineer could figure out how this ancient civilization was made, especially being so technologically advanced for its time.   Some of the fortifications for the Crystal Castle had been inspired by its impeccable design.

The Starlight Express rapidly arrived at its destination without delay.   The hedgehoglets filed out in an orderly manner and were greeted by their tour guide, a sphinx named Khalil.    Khalil was an expert in ancient civilizations such as this one and giving tours made him euphoric.    In fact, if he could educate others on his own culture, he would be more than happy to teach them.

While Sonic and his family were busy at Mobekli, there were unusual, brilliant flashes of light popping up around Crystal Castle.   These all occurred with humans who had been asleep but who were just waking up.

‘Justin, is that you ?   I see Ally came with you.   I didn’t think you folks were going on vacation so soon.’, Adam the Woo stated, astutely.    Justin was elated that his friend was there, too.    There were other famous YouTubers like Carpetbagger, Mr. Beast, Paging Mr. Morrow, and countless other people from many other Earths that had arrived all at once, too.   Some of them were in period specific clothes, others were gender swapped.   No one paid much attention to just how weird the unexplained and unexpected gathering of random people actually was.    Honestly, they were more impressed with the huge castle, fashioned completely out of crystal straight ahead.

Chapter 2—Excuse Me, What’s Disneyland ?

'Feels like where in Disneyland or Universal !', Justin's son London exclaimed.

'Disneyland ? What's that ?', Manic asked, confused.

London looked Manic over, mightily impressed with how detailed his quills were and his retro look.

‘You can’t be serious !’, London shot back, a bit dumbfounded.

‘Disneyland is the happiest place on Earth.’, Kevin Smith explained, remembering his time with the Electric Mayhem not long ago and how enjoyable that whole experience had been for him.   This was one moment in time that would remain with him for the rest of his life, but now he had to wrap his head around the fact that a green hedgehog could answer him in English.

‘Wait, I’m confused.   You mean to tell me you have amusement parks where you’re from ?’, another character, a Quokka named Barry queried.

‘Uh, yeah.  Wait…This isn’t a theme park ?’, I Has Cupquake quivered.    Many of the people were becoming slightly despondent upon hearing this revelation.

‘I don’t know how you arrived here, but something is terribly wrong.   Don’t worry.  We’ll get to the bottom of this.   While you’re here, feel free to get comfortable, because you might be here for a while.’, Sonic said, being realistic while doing his best to assuage the fears of the guests there.

‘Well, since we’re obviously on another version of Earth, we might as well enjoy it.’, Gwen Stacy winked.   She was more than familiar with universes since she could reside in any universe, she saw fit.   She bent reality daily as Gwenpool and the rules never applied, but even she couldn’t fathom who could’ve been so powerful and twisted to mess with quantum mechanics to this level.   Whoever they were, they certainly weren’t a being to be taken lightly.

Chapter 3—Discordant Playing Tricks

On Mobius, there were certain warlocks known as Discordants.   They were believed to be imprisoned much like Titans were by the Gods in Greek myth simply because their abilities were unhinged and uncontrolled.   They rivaled that of the Gods and Goddesses themselves.    One in particular known as Havoc who was thought to be imprisoned had been digging at their cell with a silver jackhammer and other devices they fashioned from their thoughts and intentions, chipping away at their penitentiary for eons until…It cracked enough to free them.

Havoc was enjoying themselves, especially in the chaos and confusion.

‘Where are your Q and M friends now hmm ?   They might be able to stop me, but intentions are powerful enough on their own, even for the OPs.’, they mocked with a jagged grin.   Havoc was a writhing, twisted Lovecraftian creature.  One with a human face bearing ruby eyes that wept dark ichor.  There was nothing but malice in their words and devices.

‘Your best crafters fashioned me a prison and thought you had me trapped…’, Havoc grumbled. But just then, Sonic had rallied his finest mages and even Quanta with her spouse Mortimer to fight back.   Everyone else was too enthralled to witness what was happening to seek shelter, until the absurd was invoked.

Chapter 4—Hope is an Eternal Flame

‘I don’t know about you, but I’m done with cows falling out of the sky.   This is worse than a Monty Python skit !’, Dan Avidan of Game Grumps bickered.   His friend Arin wasn’t far behind.   Ally and Suzie had been whipped from their Earth as well and took the path most of the cautious humans did.    Others, more curious ones, were too slack jawed to care, and others wanted ‘Instagram’ and ‘TikTok’ fame even if it came at the loss of their lives.

This is where Bronto cast a shield for the greedier humans, saving them despite of themselves.  He didn’t care if he received thanks for it but hoped that these people would remember him once Mobius’ finest quantum physicists or the God tier allies sent everyone back to their respective Earths.

Havoc was having a bit too much fun messing with the gawking guests who wouldn’t stop Instagramming.   While the rest of the court kept everyone else safe, Amy was over and done with Havoc’s shenanigans.     Using a squeaky hammer, she croqueted him to a field where there was nothing but dirt.   Typically this area was used for the hedgehoglets’ soccer games or other family sports nights when they were feeling a bit more competitive.   They also trained here when school wasn’t in session.  Currently, all her kids were fighting alongside them, proving their might as future rulers, and she couldn’t have been prouder of their growth.    They weren’t teens, but they showed promise and had quite a bit of prowess behind their techniques.

‘Havoc, I could care less what drove you here or why these innocent people got involved.   I don’t want to have to hurt you, but I will if anyone else so much as has a scratch on them.’, she threatened.

‘You ?   You’re just a puny girl.  What can you do ?’, egged Havoc.    Amy kept her temper quiet and slowed her breathing.   Bullies akin to this one loved playing mind games and using reverse psychology.   It wasn’t going to work, even though Havoc was guileful.

Before she could ensnare him, he trapped her in unbreakable rings.

‘Pathetic.’, Havoc laughed.   Out of the corner of her eye, Sonia saw what had happened and knew this wasn’t an enemy she or her siblings could take on, let alone the mages.   Whistling, Quanta, Mortimer and Q appeared.   Quanta bristled seeing Havoc.

‘I thought you were caged.   Some boxes should remain closed !’, she said, remembering bitterly that unfortunate time that her dad, in his foolishness, gifted Pandora with a certain box that altered humanity’s destiny.     She was judging her pops a little too harshly, however.   She loved humans just as much or even more than he did.

‘Chaos reigns, cosmic lass !’, Havok trumpeted, his ruby eyes glimmering intensely.     It was then that Quanta easily snapped the rings free from Amy’s body and turned her attention to Havoc.

Havoc swore under his breath, thinking no other being could break something so unpredictable, but he forgot she had a power more formidable than his fear, chaos, and destruction.   She had love and hope on her side.

Chapter 5—Amy Versus Havoc

While those who were after YouTube fame realized just how dangerous the situation was, they were led by members of the Crystal Castle to higher ground and safe haven.    The absurdity continued as Havoc rained medusa jellyfish down on those who watched.    Mortimer easily covered them with a massive impenetrable shield.

‘Brilliant, Morty !’, Quanta quipped with a huge grin.   Amy had reached her hyper form and bore her fists, taking a fighting stance.

‘Seriously ?’, Havoc questioned.   There was a bit of a quaver in his voice because he could feel the force surrounding her.   Like with the other hedgehogs, they had immense power around them, even more than the mages of old.   It was exactly like primordial times, but he was certain he had the upper hand, since he was formless and immortal, or so he thought.

‘We’ve had quite enough of this tom-foolery.   You’re really starting to irritate me.    You should be ashamed, hurting these innocent people, ripping them from their homes and lives…’, she yelled.   Havoc laughed and brushed off his hands.

‘Fine.  If it’s a battle you want, a battle you’ll have, insolent fool.’, he said.

It was unlike anything the others had ever seen.   Sonic, Manic, Sonia and his dearest friends waited for their moment if Amy became overwhelmed, but she was more than holding her own against this unbelievable enemy.    He couldn’t stand against her, and she was hitting him from all sides until his resolve was ripped asunder.

‘I don’t wish to fight any longer.   Just imprison me.  Anything is better than warring against you.  I underestimated your ability.’, Havoc said, the words dripping like poison from his mouth.   Ichor ran from his wounds.  He had been hurt, mortally and tried to get up from being knocked down, but too much ichor had drained from his body.   His eyes started to flicker into embers until they burned out.   Gasping and gurgling for breath, Amy couldn’t even honor Havoc’s request because in a matter of picoseconds, Havoc had dissolved into a yucky sort of black goo that disappeared when a rogue rainstorm rumbled in.   It was summer and storms tended to gust around that time of the year.

Chapter 6—Mobiusland

‘Amy, that was…unbelievable.’, Sonic stated, clearly awe-stricken.    He wondered if he and his siblings’ ultra powers were similar.

‘We all have that capability.   I pray you don’t have to use it.  It takes a lot out of you, but soon as I have something to eat, I’m sure my strength will return to me.’, she said, kissing her husband lovingly.   Sonic chuckled and gave a knowing look to his staff who quickly went to work making an elegant repast for not only the royal family but everyone who had been zapped to Mobius to begin with.

Although Q, Mortimer and Bronto were still around, they waited for approval from the humans to be sent back.   All of them wanted to stay to see the real amusement park they had heard of.   Quanta, particularly was a huge fan of roller coasters and had been tickled that Mortimer with his innate talent hadn’t created one in M space for his own diversion.

‘We M are a little different, but being your equal has taught me much.    Let me see what this ‘amusement park’ consists of and we’ll see if I garner any amusement from it.’, Mortimer stated with an open mind and a winning grin upon his face.

‘I so wanna see what Mobiusland is like !', Justin said.   Sonic, Amy, and the entirety of Sonic’s court felt it was time for a bit of celebration after such an epic victory won for them by Amy herself.    Amy felt so much better after getting something healthy in her stomach as well as a bit of cold, fresh water to cool herself off.    She was actually looking forward to Mobiusland herself, since she had never been there.   It had always been an item on the itinerary, but none of the court had ever gone.   What better time than the present ?

Chapter 7—Fun and Games

Mobiusland was much like common theme parks in the United States and all around the world.  It had its own theme and characters in costume.   It was a bit amusing since there was a part of Mobiusland dedicated to the defeat of Robotnik after the Rebellion, but that part of Mobiusland had been repurposed as something more modern, dealing with Mobians’ vision of the future.

There were games to play, prizes to win and tons of caloric inducing foods to try.    Fortunately, all of the guests had eaten heartily at Sonic’s tables, so no one was hungry when they had come to the park.   The day could be spent in the main park while others decided to keep cool in ‘Splashville’.   Splashville was a waterpark that could rival many back on Earth with all of its high drops, loops and gravity defying pipes.   No one was sure how water could have that much force but given that many of these attractions were powered by the same crystals that gave Mobian tech its livelihood, there wasn’t much guessing in that the crystals defied the laws of physics as they were known to humans.

Some of the hedgehoglets found the go carts to be immensely entertaining while others stuck to more kid-friendly rides that accommodated their heights, depending on their age.    Dashiel was having a blast in the wave pool, shooting the curl like a pro.

‘I don’t know where he gets that ability from.  I’m still not a huge fan of being in the water.’, Sonic said, begrudgingly.     He had gotten over his fear, only because Robotnik had forced him into compromising situations on the ocean more than once, but there was still that small voice in the back of his head that tried convincing him his lungs weren’t powerful enough to be considered a good swimmer.

Dashiel encouraged his dad that he was King Sonic and he could do anything he put his mind to.   So, to prove a point, he joined him in the wave pool and dominated the waves for a while until he wiped out.   At first, Sonic felt the fear prickling the back of his mind like before but he convinced and convicted himself.

‘It’s only water.   I’ve faced far worse than this.’, he reminded himself.    Quickly, deftly, swiftly, he retrieved his sinking surfboard and returned to the surface, where everyone was cheering for him.   The fear that once weighed him down was completely gone.

Chapter 8—Saying Farewell

Mortimer finally saw the appeal of theme parks, now that he could understand why his wife Quanta adored them so much.    Together with Q and Mortimer, she, along with a few other mages, sent all the humans back home.

‘I can’t wait to edit and post all of this when I get back to California.’, Justin said.   Logan grinned.

‘Yeah, meeting you has been EPIC !’, Logan concurred, smiling at his photo Sonic, Amy and the gang had signed for him.    Like most of the people who had come there, they realized that most people weren’t going to believe them and simply think that they were at a typical them park.   No matter their opinion, however, the experiencers knew what had happened and what they had seen.    Their enjoyment and joy there would never be forgotten.

With simple waves of their hand, Mortimer, Q and Quanta had transported everyone back and said their thanks to Sonic and the gang.

‘Just let us know anytime you need us.   You know how to reach us.’, Mortimer said, with a humongous grin.

‘Just call my name, I’ll be there !’, Quanta said, singing angelically as she winked into the Continuum.

Epilogue

Sonic joined Amy out on the balcony of the parapet, overlooking the entire Kingdom.

‘I never tire of the view from here.’, she said.   Just then, a meteorite shot through the sky.

‘Quick, make a wish, love !’, she added.   Sonic held her close and kissed her cheek, nuzzling her neck tenderly with his nose.

‘I don’t need to.  All my wishes are reality thanks to you, darling.’, Sonic stated as Amy stood up on her tiptoes to smooch him deeply.   Taking his arm, the two retreated to their chambers and quickly curled up in each other’s arms before going to bed.    Tomorrow was another day.
